Ceramic artist, Becki Novak, loves to make people smile with her hand-painted pottery. Whether it is a custom-painted house platter, a whimsical cakeplate or a large round Santa platter for Christmas, she loves to see the positive reactions from her buyers. Becki attended Texas Tech University as an elementary education/art major working mostly with the intent to be an art teacher. After graduating from college, she worked in Dallas as an art specialist with grades 3 – 6 . After 8 years of teaching and the arrival of her first child, Becki decided to leave the teaching profession to be at home. She began taking watercolor lessons from an architect for 8 years in Dallas which explains her love of painting houses.
“I love to do detail on the homes from every shadow, to light fixtures, down to every single brick. I want it to look like a photo.. not just a rendering.”
After her kids started school, Becki worked with the school to set up after school art classes, art competitions, and art awareness programs. She also did murals for the district and her church. After donating a piece of pottery for her son’s auction at school, she realized the fun she could have with this media. She bought her kiln, and off she went! Whatever you want created, she can customize or personalize anything from platters to salt and pepper shakers, from pitchers to cookie jars, or teapots to tiles.
